Paula

Activities Coordinator, St Faith’s

Paula is Activities Coordinator at St Faith’s Nursing Home. She started at the home five years ago as a carer but hadn’t always worked in the sector, “ I worked as a beauty therapist for many years in Portugal before I came to the UK.”. It was then she started to work in care, “I learnt so much in my first year as a carer.”

“I enjoy my job as it is different everyday; there are new experiences and opportunities to learn all the time.” Paula particularly enjoys working with people with dementia “I enjoy the time we spend talking or singing, I enjoy seeing how much they remember about music, lyrics; the things they don’t forget.”

A quick snapshot of her job recently includes organising safe cycle rides for residents on the home’s ‘trishaw’, giving a talk to the new students at Cheltenham Ladies College who, through their community links programme would normally be regular visitors (but will currently link virtually) and giving relaxing hand massage and nail polish to residents.
