Our Home Environment

Royal Court is a purpose built accessible home in a quiet residential location in Cheltenham. Exceptionally well maintained, it offers 43 light and spacious apartments each with their own front door, grouped into small communities to give a calmer and more personal environment. Five of the apartments are doubles, which can accommodate couples or friends if desired.

In addition we have a suite of newly refurbished rooms to offer guests respite care.

Since Royal Court joined the Lilian Faithfull Care family in 2016 we have built a conservatory to double the size of the communal areas and launched a programme of refurbishment. The architect-designed conservatory floods the communal spaces with light and creates a modern uplifting space which, alongside our refurbished lounge and dining room, provides plenty of space to enjoy our activities programme, socialise with family and friends or find a quieter spot to watch the world go by.

Behind their own front door the bright apartments each have a small hall leading to the lounge (with a kitchen area), a shower room and bedroom. As part of our mission to create a true ‘home from home‘ feel residents are welcome to add their own furnishings and personal belongings.

The courtyard garden is filled with beautiful flowers, raised beds, a vegetable patch and a greenhouse. All which offer the opportunity to enjoy a spot of gardening or simply enjoy the many seating areas and listen to the birds.

Our Care

To learn about our response to the Covid-19 pandemic please visit our Care during Covid webpage

At Royal Court we can offer people a little day to day support amidst their full and independent lives right the way through to full nursing care. As residents have their own apartment, we are often referred to as the ‘gentle first step’ when looking for care. We pride ourselves on a home from home atmosphere and the whole team work hard to make the transition into care as seamless as possible.

Our ethos is to provide person-centred care so we tailor our care and support around your needs and preferences. We offer 24 hour care and support and provide an emergency pendant for residents to call for immediate help. We have specialist knowledge of dementia and are always available to offer support to family and friends.

We work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of external health professionals to ensure every resident’s care needs are met and unnecessary hospital admissions are avoided. We also have close links with the local GP surgeries who hold fortnightly surgeries at Royal Court and have a range of visiting services as required.

Extra Care in The Butterfly Wing

We offer specialist care in our Butterfly Wing for those who have a higher level of needs.  It helps bridges the gap between residential and nursing care.  It suits residents living with a wide range of conditions (such as dementia) who might otherwise feel lost in a larger home or find a busy environment overwhelming.

This self-contained Wing consists of six apartments and its own lounge, dining room and gardens.  It has its own dedicated team of experienced staff which offers familiarity and continuity giving extra reassurance and comfort to its residents.  Residents can help with familiar tasks such as watering flowers, feeding birds, making a bed or preparing a table for a meal. This helps them to feel part of this small family community, where they feel loved, safe and needed.  Activities are always one to one and include music therapy, cookery, massage and gentle exercise.

Respite care

We offer respite care from as little as one night.

Care for couples

We offer care for couples, with a number of double rooms available. We have also found some couples may wish to have their own separate rooms to accommodate varying needs, but who still happily share their days together.

Bariatric care

One apartment has been fully adapted for specialist bariatric care. This suite has the space and equipment to ensure those living with obesity have the same dignity in care.

Activities

At Royal Court we strive to make life fun and fulfilling for our residents. We often find people gain a ‘new lease of life’ after moving in; with all the daily chores taken care of and with help on hand, residents can find new energy to follow their interests and hobbies. We are always delighted to respond to suggestions and ideas from residents and their families to ensure there is something relevant and stimulating for all.

home Cooking

Our chefs prepare fresh nutritious and well balanced menus each day offering a wide range of options at every meal. Every morning our popular breakfast club enjoys a ‘full english’ or a continental breakfast. We hold special seasonal days throughout the year, theming our food around all the major festivals, as well as sporting and royal events. We look forward to when we can again welcome guests to join residents for a meal and host family parties for any occasion!

Fees Information

As a charity we are able to offer very competitive rates for our assisted living care. Fees vary according to factors such as the level of care required and size of apartment, so please talk to our home manager to find out more. We have never had to ask anyone to leave due to their personal financial circumstances.
