Royal Court is a unique home as it offers spacious self-contained apartments for residents with round the clock residential care.
The 43 light and spacious apartments are grouped into small communities to give a calmer and more personal environment. In addition to the apartments there are also three ensuite rooms.
The Butterfly Wing & Dragonfly Suite offer specialist dementia care. In addition to the apartments each has its own kitchen, dining room, lounge and safe access to the garden. The Bluebell Wing offers extra care for those who are more frail and need extra support. There are double apartments to accommodate couples, a respite care suite and an apartment adapted for Bariatric Care.
Royal Court is in a quiet residential area of Cheltenham with good bus links to the centre. The purpose built home has spacious lounges, dining rooms and the modern conservatory floods the communal spaces with light. Each apartment has its own front door, lounge (with kitchen area), shower room and bedroom. Resident’s and families often find that having their own apartment makes the decision to move into care that much easier.
The accessible gardens include raised beds, an allotment, greenhouse as well as large lawns and courtyard area.
At Royal Court we can offer people a little day to day support amidst their full and independent lives right the way through to full nursing care. We pride ourselves on a home from home atmosphere and the whole team work hard to make the transition into care as seamless as possible.
Our ethos is to provide person-centred care so we tailor our care and support around your needs and preferences. We offer 24 hour care and support and provide an emergency pendant for residents to call for immediate help. Our care team includes dementia specialists and a qualified nurse. We work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of external health professionals to ensure every resident’s care needs are met and unnecessary hospital admissions are avoided. We also have close links with the local GP surgeries who hold fortnightly surgeries at Royal Court and have a range of visiting services as required.
We offer specialist care in our ‘extra care’ suites for those who have a higher level of needs. This helps bridges the gap between residential and nursing care. It suits residents living with a wide range of conditions who might otherwise feel lost in a larger home or find a busy environment overwhelming. The Butterfly Wing and the Dragonfly Suite focus on those living with dementia and the Bluebell Wing focuses those who are physically frail and have limited mobility.
They all consist of six or seven apartments as well as their own lounges and dining room (in addition, as it is located on the ground floor, the Butterfly Suite and Dragonfly Suite have their own gardens). They have their own dedicated team of experienced staff which offers familiarity and continuity giving extra reassurance and comfort to its residents. Residents can help with familiar tasks such as watering flowers, feeding birds, making a bed or preparing a table for a meal which helps them to feel part of this small family community. Activities are always one to one and include music therapy, cookery, massage and gentle exercise (and there is always the opportunity to join in with the activities in the main home).
We offer respite care from as little as one night.
We offer care for couples, with a number of double rooms available. We have also found some couples may wish to have their own separate rooms to accommodate varying needs, but who still happily share their days together.
One apartment has been fully adapted for specialist bariatric care. This suite has the space and equipment to ensure those living with obesity have the same dignity in care.

I cannot speak highly enough of the help and support both my mother and the family have received, following the need for Mum to go into residential care (following a fall). Mum moved into Royal Court in January very confused and unsettled, following four months in hospital. The support, kindness and understanding shown was second to none, along with the medical care needed to support Mum on her recovery. This level of support has continued and Mum has settled in so well, enjoying her new surroundings, the activities (especially the trips outs), and care provided. As a family, we feel welcomed, that Mum is getting excellent care and that she is safe and happy. What more could you wish for a special member of your family? I wish to thank each and every member of staff for their care and kindness to Mum. I would highly recommend Royal Court Care Home.
I have been impressed with the gracious and careful care offered by the staff who are very willing to meet my care needs. Carers have been friendly and attentive, willing to listen to my description of what feels comfortable and to gain a better understanding of how my stroke has affected my needs. The carers work well together and are very respectful, explaining what they are doing and explaining why, which sets a tone of care and respect which is very person-centred.
Royal Court has gone above and beyond for my mother. We needed emergency care for her after she was unable to be safe at home alone. They placed her in a superb apartment within two hours of contact. Her care here is amazing! Staff are always friendly and approachable for anything we ask. There is a lovely atmosphere here as soon as you walk through the door. Mum's personal and social care is fantastic. The activities provided are so varied and fun. Mum knows she can take part in whatever she likes but doesn't feel pressured if she doesn't want to take part. Mum also enjoys the outings she is taken on. Before Mum came here she had chosen to stop eating and drinking. Now she really enjoys her food. Mum looks so healthy! We really appreciate everything all staff do here.

This is my mother's second short stay at Royal Court and I cannot rate it highly enough. The process of moving into the home and then back out is very easy due to the excellent management, the management team are brilliant, the deputy manager is extremely personable and friendly, a real asset. All the staff at the home are courteous, friendly and knowledgeable about the residents in their care. The food looks extremely nice and the home itself is always exceptionally clean and tidy. The staff really do go out of their way to accommodate specific requests. This would be my number one choice if my mother ever needed permanent care.
The apartment style accommodation was very homely. My husband and I felt heard and the staff adapted the care given as requested. The managers were particularly supportive and helpful with this and also in assisting with working with statutory agencies. The domestic side of the home was great, clean and tidy with a range of foods on offer, well prepared and presented. We would not hesitate to recommend Royal Court to someone in need of care.
