Our great 75th anniversary bake off!

This week our care homes baked absolutely magnificent cakes for each of their home’s and hub’s 75th anniversary celebrations.

We thought we’d have a little friendly cake competition and ask for a public vote of people’s favourite cake, based on design and delicious description – which will make your mouth water!

Here are the beautiful cakes listed in order that their 75th events took place……

1/ 2/  3/ 4/ 5/ 6/ 7/ 8/


1 – St Faiths & 2 – Head office – Bake and donated by Neil Williams. Traditional Victoria sponge, covered with fondant icing and edible printed photographs.

3 – Faithfull House – Team effort lead by Chef Manager Debra Kearley. Red Velvet sponge with cream cheese frosting and white chocolate ganache.

4 – Secret Garden hub’s – baked by Faithfull House’s team and is a smaller version of the Faithfull House one.

5 – Resthaven – Team effort lead by Katy Ward. Traditional Victoria sponge, filled with buttercream & strawberry jam. Covered with fondant icing and handmade roses.

6 – Astell House – Team effort lead by Attila Benko. Pistachio, cardamom and Rose cake. Filled with rose & raspberry jam & raspberry buttercream. Topped with Italian meringue kisses, edible rose petals, fresh berries and crushed pistachios.

7 – Uplands – Victoria sponge with strawberry jam, butter cream and decorated with handmade roses, leaves and fresh strawberries.

8 – Royal Court – Team effort by Manager Lesley, Chef Manager Marcia and Georgina the Activity Co-ordinator. A three tier madeira cake filled with buttercream and jam. Covered with fondant icing and decorated with a timeline of Lilian Faithfull’s achievements and the charity’s history of our homes.

A huge thank you to everyone for their hard work, creativity and talent. We love them all and we know our staff, residents and day guests really enjoyed them!
