Good CQC rating for Royal Court

Royal Court rated Good by the Care Quality Commission

We are pleased to share that Royal Court has been rated Good following the Care Quality Commission’s latest assessment, carried out between 8 and 26 September 2025.

Royal Court provides residential and dementia care for older people, with 35 residents living at the home at the time of inspection. The CQC reviewed all five key areas: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led.

What the CQC found

The report highlights the strong, positive culture within the home:

• Staff treated people with dignity and respect, supporting residents in a way that recognised their individual needs and realities.
• Residents and relatives knew how to share feedback and felt confident that the home listened and acted on what they said.
• Leaders were visible and supportive, and staff told inspectors they were proud to work at Royal Court.
• Residents spoke warmly about their experiences, including comments such as:
  “I am feeling safe here. The carers are very careful to make sure I am alright.”
  “Staff know me very well, no doubt about that.”

Inspectors noted that some monitoring systems did not always capture up-to-date information, but they also recognised that the manager and staff knew residents exceptionally well, and this strong understanding helped to mitigate risk. The provider acted quickly on all feedback given during the assessment.

Residents’ experiences

People told inspectors they liked living at Royal Court, enjoyed the activities on offer and appreciated opportunities to go out when able. The team were observed supporting residents living with dementia with patience and understanding, helping people manage moments of confusion with kindness and reassurance.

The report acknowledges positive feedback from residents about the home environment, their rooms and the food, which residents described as enjoyable and well-prepared.
