Our successful Senior Carer Training course…..

The ‘Senior Carer Training’ held earlier in the month has been a great success – people are already on the waiting list for the next one!

Conceived and developed by Drew Ennett-Saunders (pictured top left) and Interim CEO Suzanne Booker, it is for staff new to the role of Senior Carer to support them in upskilling and developing into the role as well as giving a platform for future development.

As it is a brand new course, staff were invited to a short introductory meeting prior to the training to explain what it would involve.

The course itself started with a days training which included sections on role & responsibilities, care planning, risk assessment, clinical observations, accountabilities and compliance.

Following the formal training, the delegates then started a 6 week programme to complete a portfolio with their mentor/senior team which includes observation of practice, supervisions and making time to reflect on their practice.

The course completes with a one to one review session with the Director of Care, Suzanne.

In the coming months the Team Leader training will be reinstated and further Senior Carer courses are also being planned.
