Happy 65th wedding anniversary to Mr & Mrs Braunholtz

Congratulations to Mr Kit & Mrs Valerie Braunholtz on their 65th wedding anniversary!

Valerie lives at St Faith’s home, and the team kindly organised a lovely party for the happy couple to celebrate with their friends and family. Take a read of their remarkable story…..

Mr & Mrs Braunholtz met when they were both working at GCHQ in 1956. Kit as a mathematician and Valerie as a linguist. They became close when they were both members of the Gloucestershire Mountaineering Club in 1957. Kit chivalrously offered to carry Valerie’s rucksack in the Alps!

They have 3 children, David, Alan and Helen and they brought them up in Leckhampton where Kit still lives.

After having children, Valerie retrained as a teacher and taught music and reading at Lynworth primary school.

Kit retired in the 80’s and became involved in local politics and was and is a keen environmentalist. He was famous when we were kids for riding his bike with the dog running alongside and wearing his deerstalker….

They have 3 grandchildren (Zeme, Rosie and Ruben) aged 14, 26, and 32 and living in USA, Northumberland and Scotland.
