Gloscat College students visit Royal Court residents weekly

Royal Court would like to thank and recognise the fantastic Gloucestershire College team that visit weekly.

Every Wednesday 14 wonderful students and tutors Maria, Olivia and Tristan spend time with residents, chatting and helping do activities together including; gardening, arts, crafts and painting.

The group have recently been very busy doing great work in the garden painting furniture, putting up an arch and tidying the shed!

The students are on the College’s Employability course which includes volunteering in the community – and they chose us.

Their Personal Tutor Maria said she’s seen the benefits this experience has on the students.

“This weekly visit is amazing, and I’m so happy to bring the students to Royal Court care home. It’s so nice for them to get out and meet new people. They really enjoy talking to the residents. They get great experience of the outside world and of communicating with people. We visit for 2 hours and after they are all buzzing.”

The students have visited since September and one student from the group now kindly spends an additional day to help our staff and spend time with residents.

The staff at Royal Court are very grateful for all of the students’ time, help and company they provide for the residents, and everyone really looks forward to their visits.
