Happy Birthday to Norma – 103 years old today – amazing!
03 FebToday has been filled with special birthday celebrations for Norma on her 103rd birthday.
Although you wouldn’t believe it to look at her, Norma is the oldest resident at the home – and the whole of Lilian Faithfull Care. Norma looks absolutely fabulous at 103!
Norma was born in Salisbury, Rhodesia (which is now Harare in Zimbabwe), came to the UK as a child and spent most of her life in Gloucestershire. As a fluent French speaker, she spent many happy years with her husband spending summers in France running holiday lets. She has also worked as a hairdresser and beautician, running her own salons.
It is extraordinary to think she was born in the same year as Nat King Cole, Sir Edmund Hillary and Eva Peron! 1919 was also the year when the First World War officially ended with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles and when the Spanish Flu pandemic was declared over. What times she has lived through.
We are delighted she has been able to spend the day celebrating with family. Thank you to Wimonkan for baking the beautiful Birthday cake.
