Today, our charity and Astell House staff say ‘thank you and good luck’ to Manager Liam Gardner, who is leaving to pastures new.
We’re delighted to announce that Karen Barry, previously Lead Nurse at St Faith’s, is taking over the Home Manager role at Astell House.
Liam has been with the charity since 2017, starting at Resthaven care home, progressing to Resthaven Deputy Manager and then onto Home Manager of Astell House. Liam is leaving to return to his roots of working with people with learning disabilities.
Karen was inspired to become a nurse after working at St Faith’s nursing home as a Carer – at what was the beginning of her career in care. In 2008, she graduated as a Nurse from Bristol University and worked as a Community District Nurse.
Then, in 2010, she spotted a job at St Faith’s home, where she worked for almost nine years, before becoming the home’s Lead Nurse in 2018.
Karen has been working closely with Liam over the last few weeks to ensure a smooth and thorough hand-over.
Karen’s warmth and years of experience mean that Astell House is in a safe pair of hands.
Join us in saying good luck and farewell to Liam, and congratulations to Karen in the next step of her career.
