Chef, Royal Court

Clark joined Lilian Faithfull Care nearly 4 years ago as a Food Service Assistant. “One of the best parts about it was that I went round the home making drinks and meeting the residents.  I was brought up respecting older people and I have always enjoyed listening to their stories”.

Clark was a natural in the kitchen and with residents, and was keen to become a Chef. Whilst at Royal Court care home Clark asked to do further qualifications, so we arranged for him to do a Level 3 NVQ in Catering & Hospitality, with the catering team’s support – during lockdown.

Soon after he qualified, a job came up as a Commis Chef, supporting the Chef Manager at Royal Court. Clark commented, “I wasn’t sure whether to apply, as I didn’t know if I was ready or not, but the staff were really supportive and encouraging.”

We’re pleased to say Clark successfully gained the promotion and still particularly enjoys it when he does have time with the residents “I like to go round the home and see their faces; I ask them about my cooking and we have a laugh!”
