The compassion, leadership, and dedication demonstrated by senior care assistants make sure that each individual’s well-being is prioritised, fostering a culture where everyone feels safe, supported, and truly at home. Core characteristics we find help people to thrive as senior care assistants in our homes include:

Strong relationship building: Establishing trust with residents, their families and other team members is at the heart of a senior care assistant’s role, ensuring people’s needs are met with understanding and empathy. Making sure everyone feels heard and understood enables us to deliver the best care possible for our residents.

Team building & leadership skills: Taking the lead to motivate, encourage and enhance the skillset of junior team members, as well as supporting the care manager and senior team to create a cohesive unit to deliver seamless, high-quality care for residents.

Compassion & empathy: Genuinely caring about residents’ wellbeing, as well as supporting other team members with challenges in their own roles to help create a supportive environment in our homes. Successful senior carers often go beyond their basic duties to offer emotional support that ensures residents feel valued, respected, and cared for at all times.

Patience & resilience: As a more senior member of the team, you might be involved in more complex care cases and will be relied upon to help residents who might require more support. Their ability to remain calm and composed under pressure allows them to navigate challenging situations and provide steady support to both residents and team members.

At Lilian Faithfull, we take immense pride in the strong sense of community within our homes, where both residents and staff feel like part of an extended family.
