Compassion & empathy: Treating residents with kindness, dignity, and respect, ensuring they feel valued and supported. This includes offering comfort, reassurance, and a listening ear to residents who may sometimes feel isolated or lonely.
Ability to build positive relationships: Building trusting relationships with residents, ensuring residents’ emotional and physical needs are met. Also being adept at building working relationships with residents’ families, colleagues and other professionals to ensure the residents in your care have their needs met and wellbeing prioritised.
Patience & resilience: A care home environment can be demanding at times, so remaining patient, professional, and calm in challenging or stressful situations will be important. Responding to medical emergencies involving residents, providing urgent medical attention, as well as being able to calmly respond to and de-escalate challenging behaviour is an essential characteristic for our nurses.
Attention to detail: Ensuring medication is administered safely and accurately, and that best practices are adhered to in order to ensure our residents’ safety. Having a keen eye for detail also helps us monitor residents’ overall health and make sure any changes in their health are noted and acted upon promptly.
