Ann Tait

Aged 5   Ann spent her childhood in England Germany and Sri Lanka, moving with her father’s RAF postings.

She was a pupil at Pate’s Grammar School, a Latin and Ancient Greek teacher at Cheltenham Ladies College and Head of Classics at Ribston Hall. When at CLC she spent time living at Astell House which was a hall of residence for teachers; now it is one of Lilian Faithfull Care’s residential homes.

Aged 46   A talented cryptic crossword compiler, Ann created The Daily Telegraph’s crossword on Wednesdays. When she left teaching she became a full time ‘senior complier’ for the paper, where she remained for over 20 years.

Aged 70   Ann enjoyed travelling in her retirement. She made many trips to the Middle East regularly gave lectures on the history and religion of the area.

Aged 81   We are privileged that Ann now lives at St Faith’s, where CLC students are regular visitors.
