faithfull house

Faithfull House is a beautifully restored Grade II-listed Regency building in Suffolk Square in the attractive Suffolks neighbourhood of Cheltenham, known for its independent shops, cafés and restaurants. This residential home provides care for up to 72 residents who can take advantage of a full programme of activities, enjoy social interaction or privacy as they wish.

There are four additional garden apartments (three of which are doubles) for those who wish to live independently with services as part of the Faithfull House community. Garden residents benefit from a full laundry and cleaning service. Each apartment includes a kitchen and walk-in wet room they can cook for themselves or take meals in the dining room as they choose.

The building occupies almost one whole side of the Regency square and has five lounges in total and a large, airy conservatory and library. Residents also enjoy the spacious private walled garden with its raised bed, a fountain and the popular summer house, which is decorated in retro style and evokes happy memories of the past. The garden also has a vegetable patch that the residents help to maintain and we have already harvested – and enjoyed – tomatoes, beans and potatoes so far this year.

Lifts serve every floor, and all bedrooms have en-suite facilities. Every bedroom is fitted with telephone and television points as well as an internet connection with the capability for Sky TV. We endeavour to make each room differ through its décor and residents are encouraged to create a home-from-home with their own furniture and personal items.

Faithfull House has an in-house hairdressing salon although some residents prefer to invite their own hairdresser to visit. It is possible for other therapists such as chiropodists, physiotherapists, homeopaths and manicurists to visit as required.

The care team is extremely dedicated and, in addition to the high level of training all Lilian Faithfull care staff receive, they are encouraged to study for supplementary qualifications in care. As part of Lilian Faithfull Homes’ holistic approach we often befriend the families of our residents and encourage them, where possible, to come and participate in events at Faithfull House. The dedicated Family Liaison Officer provides a regular flow of information to the families of our residents so that we maintain our high level of person-centred care.

As a bustling living environment, Faithfull House runs a full activities programme both within and outside the home. Regular in-house activities include music, dance and art therapy, card games, Scrabble and visits from the University of the Third Age as well as performances by visiting singers and entertainers. At Christmas Faithfull House is visited by a company that performs a pantomime for the residents. Come rain or shine day trips take place every week to discover scenic spots in and around the Cotswolds. Residents enjoy picnics by the river, visits to local museums and trips to picturesque Cotswold towns and villages.

Faithfull House and its residents play a part in the local community. Each year we participate in the popular Suffolks Street Fair and the residents socialise at the bowling club opposite Faithfull House, belong to local churches and other interest groups such as book clubs. The care staff do not wear uniforms which contributes to the vibrant and relaxed feel at Faithfull House, putting our residents at ease and stimulating conversation.

One of the most notable aspects of daily life at Faithfull House is the high-quality dining experience. The catering team provide an excellent standard from morning to night. Residents can choose anything they wish for breakfast; a cooked breakfast is always available. Lunch is a three-course meal, always beautifully presented. Between six and eight home-made cakes and desserts are presented every day. We can host private family meals on special occasions so residents can enjoy a special celebration surrounded by their loved ones.

We enjoy marking special occasions such as the Royal Wedding or the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by serving special meals and decorating our dining room. At Christmas we have a formal ‘black and white evening’ when residents and staff dress up is one of the highlights in our culinary calendar. Our catering team can also accommodate special diets for any of our residents as required.
